Generative AI & Future Technologies @ GlueCon 2023

GlueCon 2023, held over two exciting days, brought together an exceptional lineup of speakers and attendees eager to delve into the latest advancements in technology and innovation. The conference showcased a wide range of talks that shed light on shared themes and emerging trends. In this blog post, we will explore some of the key themes that resonated throughout the event, highlighting the collective excitement surrounding innovation, generative AI, and WebAssembly.

Embracing Innovation

GlueCon 2023 kicked off with an inspiring keynote by Dr. KellyAnn Fitzpatrick and Dr. Kate Holterhoff, who discussed “The Great Onboarding.” Their presentation underscored the importance of embracing innovation in today’s rapidly evolving landscape. This sentiment was echoed in various talks that explored cutting-edge technologies such as WebAssembly, serverless architectures, and observability. Shely Aronov had a particularly interesting keynote on using plants themselves as sensors to provide input to improving agriculture. Later Adrian Cockcroft closed out the first day with the tipping points in innovation including a very interesting tidbit on how Netflix dramatically reduced its Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) on streaming from originally much higher than the DVD COGS to a small fraction.

Generative AI

Another captivating theme at GlueCon was the increasing influence of generative AI across various domains. Prominent speakers like Banjo Obayomi, Sriram Subramanian, and Brandon Jung delved into the capabilities and implications of generative AI. Talks explored how generative AI can revolutionize DevOps, enhance product development, and enable responsible systems. Attendees gained valuable insights into harnessing the power of generative AI and its potential to shape the future of workloads, threat analysis, and developer productivity. GlueCon served as a platform for experts to share their experiences and inspire others to explore the possibilities of generative AI in their own projects.

WebAssembly

GlueCon featured an impressive seven talks and one keynote on WebAssembly. Rashid Mohammad kicked off these talks with a review of WebAssembly basics. Then Jeff Lindsay outlined the future coming with the Components while Justin Pflueger demonstrated how to easily run WebAssembly applications inside of Kubernetes. Hood Chatham finished off the WebAssembly talks with a deep dive into the security model of Python within WebAssembly sandboxes. Gluecon was abuzz with the exciting projects being built on WebAssembly and the potential coming for this technology.

GlueCon 2023 provided an exceptional platform for exploring shared themes among the diverse range of talks. The conference highlighted the importance of embracing innovation, showcased the transformative potential of generative AI, WebAssembly, and offered a glimpse into future technologies. Attendees left the event inspired and armed with the knowledge to drive innovation in their respective fields. GlueCon continues to serve as a catalyst for collaboration, learning, and the exchange of ideas.
