The Third Annual Wasm I/O Is Coming Up

Created by the folks who brought you the Java-centered Spring I/O, Wasm I/O is an annual conference that takes place in Barcelona, Spain. This year, it happens March 27th and 28th. While there have been a few other WebAssembly conferences, such as Wasm Summit and WasmCon, this one is notable in that it has achieved what others have not: Broad balance.

From cloud to browser to edge to IoT devices. From highly experimental explorations to production. From language ecosystems to runtime platforms. From draft stands to battle-hardened case studies. Wasm I/O has traditionally balanced the topics so that a broad array of conversations from a huge range of contributors creates a highly collaborative environment.

The conference highlights an important aspect of WebAssembly — its flexibility. But the value of this level of cross-pollination is how this conference brings unlikely collisions between ecosystems that typically maintain their distance. A web developer doing graphics may otherwise never attend a session by an embedded engineer working on robots. Platform engineers running Kubernetes may rarely have the time to attend a talk given by the designer of a compiler. But thanks to the plethora of topics at Wasm I/O, these diverse industries spend a few days together seeing how WebAssembly’s flexible binary format is employed in various ways and for a multitude of purposes.

This year’s schedule is now available. From Wasm-in-cars to working with React to AI inferencing to the future of the Wasm specifications, this conference will be a broad and eclectic smorgasbord.
