Far Edge Serverless
Far edge serverless is usually focused on edge computing availability for mobile devices. 5G towers, for example, may provide a mechanism by which certain companies can run small bits of code on the cell phone tower. It is still being determined to what extent these emerging environments will support serverless apps.
Because WebAssembly (Wasm), an enabling technology for platforms like Spin, is cross-platform and cross-architecture, it is a likely candidate for the serverless apps that will one day run on the far edge. Wasm’s security model and small binary sizes help the case.
